SAC Hisotry and Achievements
Swimfast Aquatic Club (SAC) was started in 1996 with a few swimming parents, who shared the vision with the founder, Mr David Lim (BBM). This vision was to have a conducive swimming training environment for their children that fostered “team” and “family” values. In our humble beginnings, we started with just 40 swimmers and have built ourselves to be the premier swimming club in Singapore today. Back then, we used every conceivable resource we had to promote competitive swimming. Parents helped out as timekeepers, older swimmers helped out as mentors to the younger swimmers, and coaches were doubling and tripling up as drivers and tuition teachers. We built SAC on the basis of a closely-knit family club. We started out using the old ACS barker Road Shaw Pool. After three successful years, we had to move because the school was re-building. This was the start of our nomadic lifestyle because we went on to use the pools at ACS (I), Charlton Park, Kallang Basin, Geylang East, Pandan, Bouna Vista, and Yan Kit. For the past five years, we have been back at the new ACS Barker Shaw Pool. Through our turbulent times, which lasted six years, we lost a lot of swimmers but we also had a group of staunch followers who keep faith with the club. Since our time back at ACS Barker Road, we have managed to gain more stability and have re-built the team. We have been on an incline in terms of number of swimmers and most importantly, performance.
